All our children enjoy making music and benefit immensely from the progressive teaching of musicianship based on the principles of Zoltan Kodaly, the renowned Hungarian educator. Taught by a Kodaly Certified teacher, this innovative approach places emphasis on the development of the ''inner ear", enabling children to read music accurately and with remarkable confidence at an early stage. Drawing on this unique experience, the children are soon ready to join the Junior Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir or Chapel Choir, all four of which perform lively and challenging repertoires. Annual events include Chapel and School Concerts an Ascension Day Service at Birmingham Cathedral. Using state-of-the art music technology, pupils play and compose music together, learning vital skills of co-operation through rehearsal and performance. The girls and boys develop impressive practical skills, and the majority learn at least one instrument. Many who take the Associated Board music exams receive distinctions at high grades, and some of the most talented are members of the National Children's Orchestra or of the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire.
